WORKSHOP: How to make a Comic-Book

Designed to entertain and educate, this workshop explores the fundamentals of comic-book writing.

Through this workshop the  participants will be stepped through the process of creating their very own characters and how to best visually position these characters into a story, with respect to expression, graphic layout of frames, placement of dialogue and consideration of background imagery.

I cannot recommend Paul highly enough if you are looking for a children's workshop. Engaging, professional and so very kind! At the last graphic novel workshop that was run at my store, participants came away inspired and equipped with a slew of ideas and resources to continue their graphic novel journey.

Lizzy Dixon- Teacher Librarian of Moorooka State School

Our students couldn’t stop talking about Paul’s "How to make a Comic-Book workshop!" During the workshop, Paul engaged children by exploring his own quirky characters, and talked about how he developed his book. His well-planned games introduced children to some of the main skills required to put together their own comic, including building characters and settings, and matching images to text. His carefully scaffolded activities allowed all of our students to end the morning with a piece of work they were proud of. The workshop would be a fantastic launching point for an English unit exploring graphic novels. What a fantastic, engaging learning experience with strong curriculum links.
